As I was walking through the clover field I spied this colorful butterfly silently floating from bloom to bloom.

Thanks for the thoughts and picture. You made me look it up. I have always thought of those colors as Monarchs. Now I’ll have to look a little closer.

A follower suggested the Tiger Swallowtail & I had to look it up as well Clay. My only experience with butterflies is to blissfully look at their graceful beauty and soak it in, I’m not familiar with all their names. But, like you, I find myself noticing the differences now. I’ll never be an expert for butterfly identification but it’s interesting to know a little something about them. ~TxH~

Agree whole heartedly. I have in the last 10 years really noticed my surroundings, from ugly little bugs to birds and everything in between. Something I recently found beautiful and amazing was vultures. I came out one morning and my driveway and street and trees were covered with them. They were taking turns demolishing a possum. Within an hour there was nothing left, not even fur. It was amazing to see nature takes its natural course. The birds up close were so amazing and really quite beautiful in color differences and behavior and sound they made. God’s earth really is quite beautiful.

And I’ve always been amazed at how beautifully buzzards soar, Sylvia. So graceful. And buzzards serve an important purpose too. I think they get a bad rap but like you said, God’s earth really is quite beautiful! ~TxH~

Beautiful butterfly! Sometimes when we live on a ranch or a farm or on a small plot of land with our home we don’t see nature even though we are surrounded by it. Nice to take the time to look, listen and smell.

You’re so right Cynthia – no matter where you live, a rushed life often causes you to miss the beauty right at your feet. When I lived in the city I was amazed at the colorful wildflowers that grew in the grassy area between highways. I’d always been in too much of a rush heading to work to even notice them before. I wondered then how many other people drove right by this glorious beauty every morning & never even saw it. From that point on I’ve made it a point to slow down & look around every day. I’ve been blessed by it! ~TxH~
