Need A Cute Gift Quick? Inexpensive Pink Himalayan Mineral Soak!

by Tammy Taylor~

RancherMan & I enjoy a fun tradition with a small group of our friends.  Every month we all gather to celebrate whomever is having a birthday that month.  The honoree gets to choose their preferred restaurant location and we all meet to offer birthday cheer to them.  We always sing “Happy Birthday” to them, family style(That means purposely horribly off-tune and out of sync with each other)  LOL!  Way too much fun!  Although gifts/cards are not expected,  cards are often brought & sometimes small gifts are brought as well.  But a cute, thoughtful gift doesn’t have to break the bank.

Planned Leftovers: Easy Slow-Cooker Pork Roast

by Tammy Taylor~

I’m a big fan of planned leftovers.  Similar to Cook-Once, Eat-Twice, planned-leftover cooking is where you purposely cook more than you plan on eating at one sitting so you can use the leftovers in different dishes later.  One of my favorite foods to use when I’m purposely planning for leftovers is pork roast.  I mean, who doesn’t love a delicious roast with carrots & potatoes for supper?  Then it’s easy to turn that leftover meat into other dishes for other suppers.  So I often cook a large enough roast to assure I have plenty leftover meat for future meals.

I like to cook with planned leftovers in mind. Recently I cooked up a huge pork roast in a slow cooker. See what I have planned. #TaylorMadeHomestead

Quick & Easy: Rich, Chocolaty Hot Cocoa Recipe

by Tammy Taylor~

Recently our grandbabies came to stay with us for a couple of days.  It was cold and dreary outside, so there was no playing outside for them.  So I thought we’d pop some popcorn, plug in a fun movie and enjoy some hot cocoa stirred with a peppermint stick.  But there’s no need to resort to the packets of powdered stuff!  Homemade cocoa is delicious & only involves cocoa, sugar and milk, flavored with vanilla with a handful of miniature marshmallows floating on top.   Believe me when I say it was a huge HIT with the grandbabies!

Whelp, the holidays are over y’all.  Our Christmas was grand, I hope you all had a great one too!  As I’m looking over the gifts so purposely given to RancherMan & me, I’m incredibly touched at the thoughtfulness of them.  Many of you like to give low-waste gifts so I thought it would be fun to share some of the fun gifts that RancherMan & I received.  They were environmentally friendly low-waste Christmas gifts and very well suited to our tastes.

We received several thoughtful low-waste Christmas gifts that were also environmentally friendly. Come see what we got! #TaylorMadeHomestead

Easier Way To Keep Christ In Christmas

by Tammy Taylor~

This time of year is known for cheer and excitement. Trees trimmed with sparkly decorations & cheerful gifts under the tree.  It’s known for an awareness of sharing and giving to others.  A gentle season pushing us to remove the focus from ourselves & think of others.  But oftentimes there’s an uglier side too.  Think about all the hateful rhetoric flung about on social media this time of year about Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holidays. Sometimes it calls for action, snarkily responding to those wishing us a Happy Holiday that we want to hear only MERRY CHRISTMAS!  It’s a well-meaning but oftentimes harsh push to keep Christ in Christmas.  But that unnecessary ugliness is really disturbing to me.

Do you REALLY want to keep Christ in Christmas? It's easy to do without mean-spirited hatefulness or separating 'Us' from 'Them' #TaylorMadeHomestead

Homemade Pocket-Sized Hand Warmers

by Tammy Taylor~

Y’all know RancherMan & I like to make our Christmas gifts ourselves.  To us, it’s just so much more personal.  Plus by doing so we’ve removed ourselves from the consumerism and stressful side of the holiday.  We feel it’s brought us back to a more well-balanced Christmas filled with the love of Christ & the warmth of family & friends.  Sure it takes more time (and sometimes more money too) but we feel we’re living our values, and that’s important to us.  You can see a few of the homemade gifts we’ve made in the past here.  This year we’ll be giving experience gifts to our grandchildren.  We’re taking them to a live production of “It’s a Wonderful Life”, performed in a vintage 1940’s theater – how fun!  But we still want them to have something to open during our family Christmas celebration too.  So we decided to make pocket hand warmers for each of them to keep their little handsies warm during the chill of winter.

These Pocket-Sized Hand Warmers are perfect to keep little one's hands warm! #TaylorMadeHomestead
