How To Make Clover-Blossom Jelly with Recipe

by Tammy Taylor~

We’re just starting our second year of beekeeping this year.  Although we often plant winter rye and clover for early grazing opportunities for our cattle herd, we planted clover heavily in the pen right next to the beehives.  It’s beautiful in full bloom! We’ve kept the cattle off of this piece of land to allow the bees to do their thing with the clover blossoms.  I suspect there’s not a much sweeter delight than home-grown clover honey #amiright?  I can’t wait for our first real honey harvest in July!  But as we were walking through that paddock recently I commented to RancherMan how fragrant those blossoms were.  Wonder if I can make jelly from them?  Hummmm…

We have lots of clover blossoms in the pastures. Why not make Clover-Blossom Jelly with those fragrant blooms? It is delicious! #TaylorMadeHomestead

Wordless Wednesday: First Bloom Of Spring

by Tammy Taylor~

These pretty blooms will disappear soon. I planted them just off our back porch so I could see the 1st bloom of spring from our window #TaylorMadeHomestead

I have no idea what these are! My aunt shared many bulbs and other landscaping plants – only the bulbs survived the drought the last few years. These pretty blooms will disappear soon enough but I purposely planted them just off our back porch so I could see the first beautiful blooms of spring each year from our windows.

Many Flowers Makes For A More Beautiful Bouquet

by Tammy Taylor~

All the ugliness I see on the news makes my heart sink. We each have the right to feel the way we do. I may not agree with you, and you may not agree with me and here’s a secret: That’s OK!!

But I wish we could all practice a little more tolerance for opinions that differ from our own and show a little more love toward our fellow humans. What a wonderful world it would be!

Let's show kindness & tolerance for others whose opinions may not exactly mirror our own. Remember: Many Flowers Makes For A Beautiful Bouquet! #TaylorMadeHomestead

Thriving Plants When You Live In The Botanical ‘Hole Of Death’

by Tammy Taylor~

I’ve said it before and I can’t say it enough.  I love it here!  I love living in the country and the small-town feel.  We’ve made good friends and feel a true sense of community here.  And there’s that old 1800’s Barn that just speaks to my heart!  My life here is perfect in all ways except one. I struggle to get plants, trees or shrubs to live in our yard!!  Apparently we built our home right in the middle of the Botanical Hole of Death.

A short list of some beautiful yet very hardy plants I've been able to get to thrive in our Botanical Hole Of Death. #TaylorMadeHomestead

Repurposed Coffee Can To Cute Planter

by Tammy Taylor~

Recently I was chatting with a friend about those little red plastic coffee containers.  I love them and use them often for storing various things when we’ve consumed all the coffee from them.  I use them to store short-term quantities of chicken feed, for my gardening things, as a compost container to collect items destined for the *compost tumbler, etc.  But after a while you’re run out of things to do with them.  I sadly told RancherMan to just go ahead and start putting them in the recycling bin, there was no other use I needed them for.  But in chatting with a friend she said she uses them for pots on her porch. Humm….

See how to easily repurpose those empty plastic coffee cans into cute planters, even suitable enough for porch decor! Quick. Easy. CUTE! #TaylorMadeHomestead
